A Tribute To:
William John Badsey

Known to friends as "Wild Bill"

Jan 7th 1940 - Feb 19th 2001

Born in England 1940

Moved by parents to South Africa 1947

Moved to America 1982

We Will Miss You!

A Quote from "Wild Bill"

I was lucky to have a stepfather, who was himself an inventor, take me under his wing and teach me how to think. The answers to a problem are in the room around you. Always have a receptive mind and believe in yourself. If your ideas require complex solutions, stop, rethink, and start again. Have the courage of your convictions and never be afraid to be different. You Don't Know it All, Look-Listen-Learn. I am in awe of nature and for all our expertise, we cannot duplicate an ant or a leaf. This keeps my feet on the ground and I will remain humble. I got rid of my ego when I stopped racing in 1980.

My Motto has always been:
Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win!
Effort = Result!

Memorial Service Readings

Commitment to the Sea
We are her in accordance with the wishes of our good friend "Wild Bill" also known as William John Badsey. I believe that in his last moments he was probably thinking of just what we are doing today. He loved the ocean and today he will become a permanent part of it.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.

But such as a moving tide seams asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep,
Turns again for home.

Twilight and evening fall
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark

For though I'm born of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Farewell
Only one who has seen and felt the terrifying power of a mighty storm can appreciate one.  Green & white rollers crashing across a ship's deck has caused many a man to call on God

Most sailors believe in God. They have seen the peaceful lapping of wavelets along a sandy beach. They have seen those same wavelets, churned to frenzy by the wind, tearing steel plates from a ship. They can see and appreciate the hand of God over his creation.

Quote from Don Limbocker
“Wild Bill is probably up there right now, redesigning heaven, so it will be ready for us when we get there”

Sprinkling of the Ashes.
You will remain in our hearts and in our memories forever!
Unto almighty God we commend the soul of our dearly departed friend William John Badsey. We commit his ashes to the deep in hope of the resurrection unto eternal life, through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

wild billBill Badsey, known by close friends as "Wild Bill"

Bill said to many, The concentration should be on environmental vehicles. That’s, what is going on now.
The Hot Scoot and EMX can improve your lifestyle.”

Bill became interested in the boating industry in the late 60's. His interest had always been in speed so naturally he became a racer. Starting in sailboats, Bill's racing career then turned to motorcycles & sports car racing the final migration to powerboats

By 1972 he was crowned the "World Champion" in Formula One Tunnel boats. Two years later in 1974, Bill was awarded the prestigious Sportsman of the year award in South Africa.

With the acceptance of this award, Bill had joined an elite circle of racing stars. Previous winners include Gary Player (Golf) & Jody Schecter (Formula 1 Grand Prix Champion).

Bill was beginning to live up to what his close friends will forever refer to him as!

"Wild Bill".

He studied and applied advanced hydrodynamics to all his racing craft. Bill also modified and prepared his own race engines. This brought him to break and hold the new world speed record for formula one in 1976.

He designed and built all of his own boats including hydroplanes, tunnel boats & deep V offshore race boats. "Wild Bill" enjoyed 163 victorious race wins in multiple classes worldwide over a 17 year period.

badsey bulletHis thirst for speed, efficiency & technology lead him to design and build the world famous 3 wheeled, 150 MPH, Badsey Bullet in 1979. The bullet was featured on the front cover of Popular Mechanics as well as being featured in newspapers and magazines the world over after its introduction in 1979.

See video of the Bullet under future projects

After licensing his Bullet patents to Yamaha Motor Co. Wild Bill went on to become a design consultant to Yamaha Motor Co. from "84" to "88". He was involved in the design and testing of the highly successful Wave runner water craft as well as many all terrain vehicles. Bill also delved into advanced research into ducted fan propulsion for a futuristic hovercraft.

After designing a new bike for Harley Davidson, "Wild Bill" went on to follow his dream. His dream was to be first and foremost in the development and marketing of high quality electric vehicles.

emx racerBill developed the highly successful EMX (Electric Moto Cross) scooter line. In 1985 the EMX won design and invention awards shortly after its introduction into the market . It was so far ahead of its time that even today, 15 years later its design has not been challenged and it remains the only electric scooter in its class.

red hot scootRealizing that the EMX could not and would not be beaten in its class, Bill began designing another more affordable scooter. A scooter that the average person could afford as economical transport as well as remaining fun and stylish. This product would become known as the Hot Scoot electric scooter. The Hot Scoot is now within everyone's price range and most of all it is fun on wheels.

Being quite satisfied with the ground transportation he had created, Wild Bill was ready to journey back to his original passion, "Boating". badsey boatsHe figured that, since there were already electric boats on the market, he was not going to be the first, but he certainly was going to be the best.

His passion for competitiveness spawned the most innovative electric boat to hit the market. His creation would be called the "Stealth".

The "Stealth", like the EMX is so far ahead of its time that the market may never catch it.
